The origin of the word ‘tea’ comes from Chinese.

In most parts of China tea was named as ‘cha’ but in Fujian region it was named ‘te’ and pronounced as ‘tay’. Dutch’s were the first people who introduced tea in Europe and also the term ‘tay’ which is used by Fujian people. Except Dutch, Russian and Portugal traders has links with Chinese tea producers who prefer to use the word ‘cha’ for tea. That is why today tea has names such as chai ,cha ,shai ,tay ,tee , tea in most of the world languages.

A tea plant can grow higher than 5 meters (like a tree) unless it is not pruned but tea producers usually do not allow it to exceed 0.5 meter

Chinese king SHEN NUNG found tea by coincidence in years of b.c.2000.
One day the king who drinks warm water everyday because of its health benefits sees that a leaf fell into boiling water. He likes the taste the leaf add to water very much .after that king continued to drink tea for years in that way.

Tea plant can produce tea leaves for 50 years unless you don’t cut it.

The world’s leader tea exporter Ceylon (now sri lanka) exports 300 million kilograms of tea to the world every year.
If we consider that we can obtain 540 cup of tea from 1 kilogram of Ceylon tea then we can say 162 billion cups of Ceylon tea is consumed all around the world every year

The Lion Logo which you can see on all Ahlan Tea packs  is used to describe the %100 pure Ceylon teas packed in Sri Lanka and has the quality standards which are set by Sri Lanka Tea Board
